Statement

My art is created by combining my very first artist influences growing up in Mexico; religious art I saw in churches, pre-Columbian cultures I learned about in school, and the graffiti I saw in the street. The work I make is about the influence that my surroundings have had on me as well as representing different stages in the history of my country which have created what it is now. In my art I am critical of colonialism, Hypocrisy, and fanacticism but also express an interest in syncretism of religion and culture as well as the influence the past has had on the present. I continue to draw inspiration from my environment which has constantly been an urban one, thus compelling me to include subjects such as drug addiction, poverty, and violence into my work.
